Charles Oliveira’s goals: Finish Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Rio, fight Max Holloway for BMF belt

Charles Oliveira is extremely confident coming into his UFC Rio main event against late replacement, Mateusz Gamrot, this weekend (Oct. 11, 2025) inside Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Oliveira was originally set to face Rafael Fiziev in his first home country fight with a crowd since 2019. But, a knee injury took “Ataman” off the card, resulting in Gamrot taking his place. Despite the big change in opponent styles (more on that here), “Do Bronx” still expects spectacular results in the cage.

“I don’t think it will even go past the first round,” Oliveira told AgFight in a new interview. “The difference is that he’s a guy who only comes from jiu-jitsu, and I’m a complete guy. I’m not going to change my ‘Chute Boxe’ style. I’m going to keep moving forward, I’m going to hunt the whole time. If he gives me an opening, I’ll finish. If he tags me, I’ll knock him out.

“It’s not like he’ll go to the ground without fear,” he added. “In what fight has he done anything different? That’s all he does. I’m ready. As I said, I’m an MMA fighter. I’m ready both standing and on the ground. I’m the greatest finisher in UFC history … this fight won’t go past the first round.”

Oliveira already has big goals for what’s next when he leaves Rio de Janeiro.

“Winning this fight and fighting for the title, whether it’s BMF or the title of the division,” he told Shak MMA. “This is a great fight that will propel me toward a title.”

The Lightweight title picture is extremely crowded right now with Ilia Topuria reported to be defending the belt against Justin Gaethje in January and the winner of Arman Tsarukyan vs. Dan Hooker getting a shot after that.

It’s a good thing Oliveira is happy to fight for the BMF belt instead.

“Everyone would love to see the Max [Holloway] fight,” Oliveira said. “And I want this to be my next fight.”

Holloway is currently shelved until 2026 with a hand injury (more on that here), so the timelines could work out perfectly for a “Do Bronx” vs. “Blessed” clash. All Oliveira has to do now is get past Gamrot at UFC Rio.
