Midnight Mania! Paul Taunts Shields After First Loss

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Former boxing world champion Claressa Shields lost her first professional MMA bout last night at PFL 10 in a split-decision loss to Abigail Montes (highlights HERE). Having gone undefeated in her pro boxing career this loss has to hurt for Shields, especially with Jake Paul talking trash after the fight.
Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in boxing, recently made some comments about a hypothetical sparring session with Paul. The PFL fighter claimed she could beat the social media star with one hand (via Sky Sports), which is something Paul kept in the back of his mind when watching Shields’ fight last night. Once Shields was announced the loser Paul jumped on social media to let her have it.
I love karma @Claressashields,
Congrats Abigail Montes! Someone get her a Twitter! pic.twitter.com/gRTqKLZt8A
— Jake Paul (@jakepaul) October 28, 2021
“The truth hurts but it’s necessary,” wrote Paul. “Clarissa Shields is a loser. In MMA, and even more so with her prima donna attitude. The fake always get exposed. Losses come when anger and hate take over. Just ask Rousey and McGregor. She spent more time berating Jake Paul than learning Jiu Jitsu. She’s never been a big draw and unfortunately for her she never will be. Amanda Serrano (the GWOAT) though, has 30 KOs in 42 fights. 2-0 in MMA, both wins by submission. Congrats Abigail Montes on the win.”
In addition to Shields, PFL 10 showcased six tournament finales with a prize worth $1 million for each winner (results HERE). The main event of the evening featured undefeated women’s sensation Kayla Harrison against Taylor Guardado, but the other five bouts lived up to their own billing.
Brazilian veteran Raush Manfio capped off his comeback campaign with a unanimous decision win over Loik Radzhabov to claim the lightweight crown. The victory moved Manfio to 4-0 for the year, which saw him defeat the likes of Anthony Pettis and Clay Collard along the way.

Bruno Cappelozza and Ante Delija went toe-to-toe in the heavyweight finale and it turned out to be one of the best big man fights of the year. The first three rounds of this fight were absolutely insane and should have resulted in a finish, but Cappelozza and Delija dug deep to last all five rounds and give the fans every ounce of fight. In the end, Cappelozza did enough on the scorecards to earn the $1 million check.
