Montana De La Rosa vs. Taila Santos scrapped from UFC Vegas 16 card due to positive COVID-19 test

A flyweight fight between Montana De La Rosa and Taila Santos has been pulled from Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 16 card due to a positive COVID-19 test in De La Rosa’s camp.

One of De La Rosa’s cornermen tested positive for the virus, multiple people with knowledge of the news told MMA Fighting, and out of an abundance of caution the UFC is pulling her from the card. A UFC official confirmed the scratch on Saturday afternoon.

After bouncing back and forth between wins and losses in her past four fights, De La Rosa was looking to get back on track with her fight on Saturday. She most recently dropped a decision to Viviane Araujo at UFC Vegas 9 back in September.

De La Rosa vs. Santos was scheduled as part of a six-fight main card airing live on ESPN2 and ESPN+ starting at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday night. There’s no word yet what fight will get bumped up to the main card now that the flyweight fight has been scrapped.
