Kevin Holland dropped Joaquin Buckley with a single punch in the first round, then did it again to close out the show at UFC Vegas 6.

A straight right hand sent the aggressive Buckley’s mouthpiece flying and his body to the canvas, prompting referee Mark Smith to wave off further punishment as the UFC newcomer covered up at the 3:14 mark of the opening frame.

Check out the finish below.

Holland showed zeros signs of strain after the last-second cancelation of his UFC Vegas 5 fight against Trevin Giles. While the stout Buckley threw for the fences with every punch, he calmly returned fire with punches and kicks. Holland said a headbutt caught him early, forcing him to pay extra care to his defense.

At times, there was more movement in Holland’s lips than his body as he verbally goaded his opponent. With a high guard, he mostly evaded the bombs coming his direction.

Then, in an instant, he sent Buckley to the canvas with a right hand timed on an approach. The first time it landed, Buckley sprang to his feet and continued to fire. The second, the damage had been done.

“If I could have went a lot faster, I would have, but he was short, so it was hard to find the things I wanted to find on him,” a cool Holland told UFC commentator Paul Felder after the fight.

Holland has now won back-to-back fights after a 39-second stoppage of Anthony Hernandez in his previous bout. Buckley, who just one week earlier picked up a huge knockout win in LFA, sees a two-fight victory streak snapped.
