‘Nobody Embodies The BMF Belt’ Like Chandler

Michael Chandler has some ideas in mind beyond his Conor McGregor fight at UFC 303 on June 29, 2024.
UFC 300 was an unforgettable night of action in Las Vegas this past weekend (April 13, 2024). After all was said and done, UFC CEO, Dana White, took to the event’s post-fight press conference and announced a handful of big upcoming match ups. The one that’s been discussed for the longest time has been none other than Chandler’s clash against McGregor.
In the middle of UFC 300’s main card was the first title defense of the Baddest Motherf—ker (BMF) title held by top Lightweight contender, Justin Gaethje, entering the night. Unfortunately for Gaethje, he dropped the belt via a fifth-round knockout in the final second of his five-round affair opposite former Featherweight titlist, Max Holloway (watch highlights). Holloway, 32, now has a world of endless possibilities as the BMF champion, including options to defend, which Chandler likes the sound of after his McGregor bout.
“Hats off to Max,” Chandler told TheMacLife. “Max would be a guy I would love to fight for that belt at some point. Obviously, I got a job to take care of here in 76 days, but, man, I would love to fight for that BMF belt eventually, too ... and the Lightweight belt.
“Probably my biggest downfall is I’m not the greatest self-promoter when it comes to telling people exactly who I am and how I operate,” he continued. “But there is nobody who embodies the BMF belt the way that they fight more than me. So, I’ll let my fighting do the talking, and I’m sure people will be talking about the BMF belt when I dispatch of Conor in June.”
If a hypothetical BMF title defense comes for Holloway it likely wouldn’t be until the end of the year or early 2025 as he appears most interested in next challenging the Featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria. That’s assuming the promotion kept him as BMF champion after said fight.
