Barnett Files Suit Against ‘Negligent’ Supplement Company

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett, was flagged by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) roughly one-year back, after “The Warmaster” tested positive for Ostarine.

The substance was later found to be part of a tainted supplement (Tributestin) and Barnett, 40, was eventually exonerated through arbitration, which paved the way for his pending return to mixed martial arts (MMA).

Fortunately, no stakes were burned in the process.

Barnett, however, wants restitution for time lost and damage incurred to his brand. The means to that end is a recent lawsuit against supplement company Genkor on grounds of negligence, breach of implied and express warranty, and strict product liability, according to MMA Junkie.

“The Warmaster” is not the first UFC athlete to fight back. Lyman Good went after Gaspari Nutrition after “Cyborg” tested positive for 1-androstenedione and got yanked from the UFC 205 pay-per-view (PPV) in New York.

Barnett (35-8) has not competed since tapping Andrei Arlovski in late 2016.
