Conor McGregor: Floyd Mayweather looks like ‘dog sh*t’ at weigh-ins

After a subdued press conference earlier this week, Conor McGregor ramped up the intensity at Friday’s weigh-ins.

“The Notorious” walked out to the soothing tones of Sinead O’Connor’s rendition of “The Foggy Dew” mixed with “Hypnotize” by The Notorious B.I.G. before hitting the scales at a comfortable 153 pounds, one pound under the agreed-upon weight for his fight with Floyd Mayweather on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Mayweather was considerably lighter. The 40-year-old boxing great officially hit the scales at 149.5 pounds. His walkout was accompanied by the Phil Collins song “In The Air Tonight.”

The two men couldn’t have been more different in their demeanor. Other than a brief moment where Mayweather laughed at McGregor from across the stage, he showed little emotion. McGregor, on the other hand, was all fire and fury as soon as his weight was confirmed.

When the two fighters faced off, McGregor unleashed a non-stop flurry of curse words and threats, finishing with a primal roar just inches away from McGregor’s nose.

Afterwards, both men spoke to broadcaster Jim Gray.

“He looks like dog s**t,” McGregor said. “You know that, he looks blown out. Full of water. He’s not gonna keep my pace. Trust me on that. That’s the worst shape I’ve ever seen him.”

Asked what he would weigh on fight night after re-hydrating, McGregor said he expects to come in close to 170 pounds. He then praised fans from his home country who made the trip to support him.

“There’s a saying: You’ll never beat the Irish,” McGregor said. “And that’s it. You can’t beat us. We roll in and we take over wherever we want. Las Vegas is Ireland now.”

“I’ll stomp my foot right in the center of that ring, I won’t go nowhere other than the center of that ring,” McGregor continued. “So let’s go, let’s see who can take it. He’s over there twiddling his thumbs, twitching away, I see a man afraid. That’s it, we’ll see you tomorrow.”

Mayweather, calm as ever, didn’t sound like he was intimidated by the weight difference nor the raucous crowd support for McGregor and he predicted that this retirement bout would be the end for his opponent as well.

“I just want to thank the fans, I’m not really worried about the scale or the last time (I’m going to fight). This will be Conor McGregor’s last fight also.”
