Cris Cyborg: Holly Holm already ran from me three times

Newly-crowned Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s featherweight champion Cristiane Justino is ready to make her first title defense after disposing of Tonya Evinger at UFC 213 back in July.

The logical choice would be striking specialist Holly Holm, who previously held gold at 135 pounds, has already fought for a featherweight world title, and is coming off a win over Brazilian slugger Bethe Correia.

But you know what they say about betting a horse by its record.

“She’s already run three times.” Justino said. “Let’s do this fight! She is waiting to see who is going to win between Amanda (Nunes) and Valentina (Shevchenko). I think she is going to see who is going to be better for her more about the money and she is gonna make the fight.”

Hopefully she won’t get “exposed” again.

Justino believes Holm will ride the pine until Nunes and Shevchenko finish their business at the UFC 215 pay-per-view (PPV) in September, because a championship title fight against “Lioness” or “Bullet” may prove to more lucrative than a “Cyborg” beatdown showdown.

That would leave Justino with very few options at 145 pounds. The promotion could always import more talent from Invicta FC, like it did with Evinger, but that doesn’t always work either.

I guess the ball is in Holm’s court.
