Womp, womp, fighter pay takes another L.

UFC 304 went down last night (Saturday, July 27, 2024) from inside Co-Op Live in Manchester, England. Three finishes started the card, and seven decisions followed, which put the English crowd to sleep until Paddy Pimblett’s epic entrance (and then he slept King Green).

UFC CEO Dana White was not happy with the card, especially because he had to hand out $100,000 Performance of the Night bonuses. Well, he is never doing that again.

“I think tonight showed that we should not up [the post-fight bonuses]. Upping them doesn’t change anything,” White told the media during the post-fight press conference (watch here). “It doesn’t make anybody fight any harder. It doesn’t change anything. I’m not doing this again ever. Ever. Today was the last day that I’m doing that. I’m not saying that in the future, the bonuses couldn’t get up, but I’m not going to be at a press conference and have [people] say ‘$200k, $300k, f—king never again, never again.

So you can thank everybody on this card for that. Nobody fought any harder. There was no sense of urgency. ‘Holy shit. I want the $100,000 straight fuck. Who gives a f—k [if it’s early in the morning]. It’s f—king seven o’clock in Vegas, so whatever. Yeah, never again. Seven straight f—king decisions. Yeah, the $100,000 was a real big f—king woohoo. Let’s get it, boys. F—k that shit never again.”

White has been pretty generous this year with extra post-fight bonuses, including giving Max Holloway, Jiri Prochazka, and Justin Gaethje $300,000 at UFC 300 and Alex Pereira $303,000 at UFC 303.

And all of those big money bonuses appear to be over.
