Don’t Call It A Comeback (He’s Been A Welterweight For Years)

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion, Johny Hendricks, is currently a free agent in the wake of his failed middleweight experiment. Then again, it may not have anything to do with weight classes.

“Bigg Rigg” is just 3-7 dating back to late 2013 and has been finished in his last two losses.

But that doesn’t mean the bearded brawler has nothing left for mixed martial arts (MMA) fans and may be contemplating an Octagon comeback later this year. According to ESPN, it may even take place at 170 pounds.

That said, it might take a few fights to get fans back on board, as Hendricks has been consistently plagued with weight cutting issues — in both classes — while turning in listless performances once the cage door closes.

If and when he does get another go-round with UFC, there won’t be much room for error. Hendricks (18-8) is halfway to his 35th birthday and has already seen his fair share of wars against the likes of Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown, among others.

How about it, fight fans, ready for Johny Hendricks 2.0?
