UFC 307 is down a fight.
Last week, Aljamain Sterling announced that he had to withdraw from his upcoming fight with Movsar Evloev, which was supposed to take place in two weeks (Sat., Oct. 5, 2024) at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sources confirmed to MMAMania.com today (Mon., Sept. 23, 2024) that Evloev has returned to Russia because he was left without an opponent for UFC 307, and he will no longer be part of the promotion's return to SLC.
After Evloev found out Sterling was out of their essential fight, he took to Twitter to plead for anyone to fight (including a war of words with a former foe).
I see Aljamain announced on his YouTube channel that he is out of the fight. I’ve been training for 4 months and would like to stay on this card and fight anybody, I’m not sure if the UFC can find someone to fight me but I worked really hard for this fight

Evloev has been out of action since his fight with Arnold Allen at UFC 297 in January earlier this year. It's a big bummer for the Russian because a win over a former champion like Sterling would have pushed him very close to a Featherweight title shot.
Evloev, 30, is 18-0 and has been absolutely perfect in UFC thus far with eight wins, including victories over Dan Ige, Diego Lopes, and Hakeem Dawodu. The only thing missing in his clean UFC record is a finish — something he hasn't had since his last fight outside of the promotion in 2018.
