Ferguson Slams McGregor, Diaz For Criticizing Injury

Conor McGregor had a rather crude response to the news of Tony Ferguson suffering a nasty injury which forced him off his scheduled Lightweight title fight against Khabib Nuramgomedov, which was set to headline this weekend’s (Sat., April 7, 2018) UFC 223 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Brooklyn, New York.

After catching wind of McGregor’s response, Ferguson took to social media to fire back at the former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight champion.

UFC president Dana White revealed that offering the fight to Conor wasn’t an option for the promotion, as UFC would like to have more time to properly promote a fight with “Notorious” attached. Especially one that would see him return to action after more than 500 days of inactivity inside the Octagon. Whether or not Conor would’ve taken the bout, though, is something we will never know.

As for Nate Diaz, he also offered up an insulting response to Tony’s injury, so “El Cucuy” had some words for the Stockton slugger, as well.

In the end, Max Holloway answered the call and will now face “The Eagle” for the undisputed 155-pound strap, which means Conor and Ferguson will officially be stripped of their belts come fight night.

White has stated that Conor could return to action this November, which would likely see him take on the winner of this Saturday’s title bout. As for Diaz, he’s only interested in a McGregor trilogy bout, which means he could be out of action for a bit longer.
