Floyd Mayweather Sr.: We’ll ‘sue’ Conor McGregor if he fights dirty

A lot is being made out of Conor McGregor’s recent sparring sessions with former boxer Paulie Malignaggi. With little video footage of McGregor boxing leading into his superfight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the combat sports world has been left to pick apart the small clips released by UFC president Dana White earlier this month.

While most people were focused on whether or not “Notorious” scored a knockdown or pushdown on the retired Malignaggi, others focused on McGregor’s questionable play inside of the ring. Malignaggi himself recently shed some light on McGregor’s “dirty stuff” and now Floyd Mayweather Sr. is getting in on the action, going as far as threatening to sue the UFC champ if he does “Money” dirty.

“It’s gonna stop right there,” Floyd Sr. said of the potential foul play during a recent episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd (shown above). “And guess what? Then we’re gonna throw a big suit at him.”

“There’s enough people around here suing everybody for nothing, and this is something that you can be screwed for.”

That would be unfortunate for McGregor, wouldn’t it? The 29-year-old UFC champion also stands to lose 90 percent of his purse if he decides to kick Mayweather in the head. Despite the unpredictable road ahead, Floyd Sr. believes his son has trained enough for a crossover opponent making his professional boxing debut.

“Like I said many times before, Floyd is better,” Floyd Sr. said. “But I’m saying here now, he’s training good enough for a guy like this.”

“Conor, first of all, showed the whole world his egg, and I think you know what I’m talking about” Floyd Sr. continued. “And guess what, it ain’t nothing.”

Clean, dirty, 90 seconds, or 36 minutes, Mayweather vs. McGregor will offer a unique experience for all when the two meet on Aug. 26 live on Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The combat sports world has never witnessed something quite like it and may never get the chance to again.
