Georges St-Pierre should stay at middleweight where he can hide from heavy-handed Conor McGregor

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is finally making his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) when he collides with reigning middleweight kingpin Michael Bisping.

More on that fight here.

According to retired bantamweight and ex-women’s 135-pound titleholder Miesha Tate, “Rush” should be grateful he was able to wrangle a “Count” clash where he’s safe from the “brilliant” and “heavy-handed” Conor McGregor, because that’s a fight he loses.

From her MMA Tonight on SiriusXM (via MMA Fighting):

“The man is truly in a league of his own. When it comes to his game planning, when it comes to his trash talking, when it comes to getting inside people’s heads, nobody does it better than Conor McGregor. I think the speed favors him. I think he has great striking and I think the fact that GSP’s been out for so long, People haven’t quite figured it out but there’s something, an element that Conor McGregor adds that’s not just his skillset. He gets inside people’s heads and he ruins them before they even step inside the octagon. He’s evolving, he’s very athletic, he’s heavy handed. I think he could knock out a lot of guys bigger than him. Look how well he did against Mayweather. I was so impressed with how he did there. I thought he was gonna lose that fight handily and he hung in there tough.”

Tough enough to last 10 rounds with one of the best ever.

St-Pierre is expected to stay at middleweight if he’s able to win the middleweight title at UFC 217, which takes place this November in New York City. McGregor, meanwhile, may or may not return welterweight to fight Nate Diaz on Dec. 30.

“Notorious” has yet to defend his 155-pound title after winning it from Eddie Alvarez last fall and if he did eye another super fight at 170 pounds, he might need to answer to this guy first.
