Holly Holm welcomes Cris Cyborg title fight: ‘If they present the contract, let’s do it!’

Holly Holm ended her three-fight skid earlier this summer by knocking out Bethe Correia in Singapore to collect her first win in over a year.

In doing so, “The Preacher’s Daughter” likely secured herself a shot at another UFC title, specifically the women’s Featherweight strap, which is currently held by striking sensation Cris Cyborg.

While many are quick to dismiss Holly deserving a shot at the title, it’s no secret the 145-pound weight class is lacking in talent, which works out well for Holly given her name and status as a former world champion. And when you take into consideration Cyborg calling for a showdown against the former boxing champion, things are looking good for the ex-women’s Bantamweight queen.

All that needs to happen -- according to Holm’s comments on The MMA Hour — is for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) matchmakers to send over the contract.

“We’re waiting to see if it’s presented or not. It’s obviously something we are open to doing. We’ll see if it happens. I know she’s putting it out there that she’s calling me out, but that’s just social media and a lot of that I don’t get into. I am here to train and if the fight gets put together, I am going to be training to beat her. As far as that goes, I’m not saying no and saying that it has to be this day or that. If they present the contract, then let’s do it.”

Of course, Holly isn’t just shifting all of her focus on Cris just yet -- who won the vancat strap at UFC 214 — as she is well aware of the fact that UFC matchmakers could go another route. And if they do, she has to keep her mind open to other bouts.

Furthermore, while she’s not training for a certain individual at the moment, she is definitely in the gym training at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA and ready to go once the call is made. Or in this case, the contract is presented.

And if all goes as planned, it could go down at UFC 219 on Dec. 30, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
