Humberto Bandenay vs. Gabriel Benitez added to UFC Chile

A featherweight bout involving two Latin American fighters has joined the lineup for the UFC’s first trip to Chile.

Humberto Bandenay vs. Gabriel Benitez has been scheduled for UFC Chile, which is set to go down at the Movistar Arena in Santiago on May 19. The news of the booking was announced by the promotion.

Bandenay hasn’t fought since making his UFC debut back in August. The Peruvian fighter has tried to follow up on his impressive 26-second knockout over Martin Bravo, but due two a wrist injury and visa issues, Bandenay has been forced to withdraw from his two previously scheduled bouts in the UFC. The 23-year-old fighter is 14-4 in his MMA career.

Meanwhile, Benitez is coming off the biggest win of his MMA career. In his last outing in December, the Mexican fighter outpointed prospect Jason Knight in a unanimous decision. Benitez, a former contestant of season one of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, is 4-2 in the UFC and 20-6 in his overall MMA record.
