Jeremy Stephens vs. Calvin Kattar in the works for UFC 248

A clash between two heavy-handed featherweights is in the works for UFC 248 as Jeremy Stephens is expected to face Calvin Kattar on March 7 in Las Vegas.

Multiple sources close to the fight confirmed verbal agreements are in place for the matchup when speaking MMA Fighting following an initial report from MMAJunkie.

Stephens will look to get back on track following a 0-3 run with one no contest in his past four fights. While his recent streak hasn’t reflected any wins, Stephens has gone to battle with former champion Jose Aldo, top prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov and fellow top 10 ranked featherweight Yair Rodriguez in consecutive fights.

Stephens most recently engaged in a ‘Fight of the Night’ with Rodriguez this past October and now he’ll face another hard-hitting featherweight in Kattar in March.

Kattar will also attempt to get back in the win column when he faces Stephens at UFC 248. The Massachusetts native is coming off a loss of his own to Magomedsharipov from November 2019 while putting together a 2-2 mark over his past four fights.

Stephens vs. Kattar is the latest addition to a growing UFC 248 card, which also features a strawweight title fight between reigning champion Weili Zhang and former 115-pound queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
