Joe Lauzon is back in action and in his native Massachusetts no less.

“J-Lau” competes in his 27th UFC fight when he meets newcomer Jonathan Pearce (9-3) in a lightweight bout at the upcoming UFC on ESPN 6 event on Oct. 18. MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin confirmed a MMA Junkie report.

A member of the UFC roster since 2006, Lauzon has compiled a 14-12 record for the promotion. His bout with Pearce will be his first fight since April 7, 2018. Lauzon, 35, has lost three straight and four of his last five. His overall pro record sits at 27-15 and he holds notable wins over Diego Sanchez, Takanori Gomi, Michael Chiesa, Jeremy Stephens, and Jens Pulver, as well as 15 UFC fight night bonuses.

Pearce, a recent Contender Series contract winner, has won five straight fights and previously competed for Bellator. The 27-year-old impressed UFC president Dana White this past July with a third-round knockout of Jacob Rosales.

UFC on ESPN 6 will take place at TD Garden in Boston, with the main card airing live on ESPN. The headliner features former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman making his light heavyweight debut against top contender Dominick Reyes.
