Marcin Wrzosek replaces Marian Ziolkowski, faces Norman Parke for interim title at KSW 50

Norman Parke’s initial opponent Marian Ziolkowski has been forced out of their interim lightweight title clash at KSW 50: London on Sept. 14, but the Polish promotion have found a replacement in TUF alum and former featherweight champion Marcin Wrzosek.

After an initial report about Ziolkowski’s injury surfaced through InTheCage.pl, KSW announced via social media that Wrzosek would step in to replace his countryman, who was ruled out of the contest due to a knee injury.

Wrzosek (14-5-0) made it to the semi-final of TUF 22, losing a decision to Saul Rogers. After dropping another decision to Julian Erosa at the season’s finale, he signed for KSW and eventually toppled champion Artur Sowinski in the second round of their KSW 37 meeting to claim the featherweight title. “The Polish Zombie” last competed for a title in December when he was outclassed by French outlier, Salahdine Parnasse. Since then, he has got back to winning ways with a decision win over Krzysztof Klaczek.

Parke (27-6-1) has previously contested two KSW lightweight title fights in the past against rival and lightweight champion, Mateusz Gamrot. He suffered a decision loss to Gamrot in their first meeting at the infamous stadium show, KSW 39: Colosseum. He lost out on a chance to fight for the title a second time when he missed weight for their rematch at KSW 40, which ended in a no contest in the second round.

“Stormin’ Norman” has been in stellar form of late and rides a four-fight win streak into the contest. In his last outing, he took a unanimous decision in a catchweight bout with former KSW featherweight champion, Artur Sowinski. Before that, he defeated former KSW welterweight champion Borys Mankowski in a welterweight bout.
