Meet The Dumbest Fighter In UFC History

“I’m getting trolled right now by so many people.” —Andre Soukamthath

Sean O’Malley injured his foot somewhere in the third round of his bantamweight fight against Andre Soukhamthath at the UFC 222 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Saturday night (March 3, 2018) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was so painful, “Sugar” could only stand on one leg.

But instead of letting O’Malley try to fight handicapped — and leave him exposed to just about any striking attack — Soukhamthath opted to wrestle him to the ground and try to work some punishment on the mat.

It was a decision that may have cost him the fight, which is why mixed martial arts (MMA) fans (along with promotion president Dana White) are calling him the dumbest fighter in UFC history.

“They are calling me the dumbest fighter in MMA,” Soukamthath told ESPN. “The dumbest fighter in UFC history. Even my friend Rashad (Evans). Everyone is wondering why I decided to wrestle, and I’m wondering the same thing. I know what I did wrong. I realize what I did. I’m going to capitalize on my mistakes and learn from this.”

It was a big week for dumb moments.

The loss for Soukhamthath (12-6) leaves him at just 1-3 since transitioning to UFC back in early 2017, but two of those losses were close split decisions, so he could very easily be 3-1. What the future holds for the “Asian Sensation,” at least inside the Octagon, remains to be seen.

As for O’Malley, his UFC 222 win pushed his undefeated record to 10-0.
