Morning Report: Joe Lauzon ruptures teammate Devin Powell’s testicle in training session
After being discovered by UFC President Dana White on the Lookin’ For A Fight series, Devin Powell made his UFC debut against Drakkar Klose at UFC Fight 103. Powell lost that fight by unanimous decision and had to be taken to the hospital afterwards. Well, on Tuesday, Powell had to take another trip to the hospital courtesy of a UFC fighter, only this time it was his teammate, Joe Lauzon.
Powell posted to his Instagram account a photo of himself in surgery prep, announcing that Lauzon ruptured his testicle during training while practicing knees on the ground.
A post shared by Devin Powell (@devinpowell_nostosmma) on Feb 13, 2018 at 4:29pm PST
“Thanks to the fine ambulatory services in Wells, ME, I am checked into the hospital and ready for surgery. Shout out to Joe Lauzon we’ve been practicing knees on the ground and he successfully ruptured my testicle with his sheer power. His opponent has no chance in April ... now to get the blood clot drained and the goods repaired . I waited a day and a half to be seen.. word for the wise, if you hurt yourself, go get checked out. Dana White, Sean Shelby, how about a NY UFC fight coming up... this will be quite the comeback story . Share this and help me get the ball rolling on my next Fight and follow my journey... pun intended”
Lauzon responded to the post on his own social media account, seemingly taking fault for the unfortunate situation.

“I can explain... #majorFail”
Fortunately, Powell appears to be as healthy as his spirits now. A few hours after the initial post, Powell again took to Instagram to inform his fans that the surgery was a success and he hoped to return better than ever.

“Surgery was a success, now on to recovery. Can’t wait to get back in the UFC cage, this will be the first time since my last fight that I will be forced to rest my whole body for multiple days in a row. I will come back stronger than ever, I wasn’t expecting this curve ball but I’m going to hit my recovery right out of the park.”
Powell has not fought since June of last year, a split decision loss to Darrell Horcher at UFC Fight Night 112, though has been asking for a third fight with the organization. If those calls fall on deaf ears though, Powell certainly could have a place in Kenny Florian’s All Balls Brawl League.

Strange beef.
It is not befitting of a world champion to whine so much. A champion is someone that represents courage and strength. An ability to endure difficult circumstances and push on. How is it not obvious that this characteristic negatively affects marketability?
— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) February 13, 2018
I pray this comment isn’t for me. Because it’s so bizarre when non champions say what a champion should represent. Especially with little to zero knowledge of circumstance. But I know it’s not about me, being the respect we have for one another...... https://t.co/F56jwF2ZFV

Go back and read some of the comments from your own fans, replying to your tweet! I respect you as an athlete and a champion, but many UFC fans aren't Woodley fans, and as a champion it's worth listening to them and figuring out why. https://t.co/iqFYIcszC7
