Pedro Munhoz would move up to featherweight to fight Ryan Hall

Ryan Hall recently complained that several ranked featherweights turned down offers to fight him in the UFC, and he specifically aimed at Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar.

But there’s one top-ranked bantamweight that’s also willing to dance.

Brazilian 135-pound vet Pedro Munhoz told MMA Fighting he’d “easily” agree to put on extra 10 pounds to enter the Octagon with Hall. The fight could be “next week” or any other date Hall choose, he added.

Hall (8-1) joined the UFC after winning the 22nd season of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2015 with a decision over Artem Lobov. The jiu-jitsu specialist then beat Gray Maynard and B.J. Penn before scoring his most recent victory against Darren Elkins this past July.

“He asked for a fight with Gray Maynard, a 40-year-old,” Munhoz said. “He asked for Jose Aldo, who just dropped to bantamweight. He asked for Frankie Edgar, who’s almost 40 and just broke his jaw. I’d fight this sh*t. It would be a good one.

“He has the best jiu-jitsu in the featherweight division, and I have the best jiu-jitsu in the bantamweight division. I have nine wins via guillotine choke, and he has a bunch of heel hooks.”

Munhoz (18-4, 1 no-contest) was on a three-fight winning streak over Brett Johns, Bryan Caraway and Cody Garbrandt before dropping a decision to Aljamain Sterling in June.

According to the former RFA bantamweight champion, the company planned on booking him against Cody Stamann at UFC 248, but couldn’t get the deal done.

“I was talking to the UFC and they offered me Cody Stamann, and even gave me the date (March 7),” Munhoz said of Stamann, who recently fought to a draw with Song Yadong after going 4-1 in his first five UFC appearances. “He’s below me in the ranking, but I agreed to it. Three days later, the UFC told me he didn’t want to fight me.”

So, it appears Munhoz and Hall have something in common.
