PFL: Everett Results: Andre Harrison stays perfect with decision win over Steven Rodriguez
All four of the favored fighters on Saturday’s Professional Fighters League show in Everett, Wash. delivered.
Former World Series of Fighting champion Andre Harrison improved to 17-0 as a professional with a unanimous decision win (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) over Steven Rodriguez in the evening’s main event, and UFC vets Yushin Okami, Jake Shields, and Bruno Santos also put on convincing performances.
The weapon of choice was wrestling, as all four fighters used timely takedowns and ground control to outpoint their respective opponents.
In the case of Okami and Shields, their dominance on the mat was so pronounced that they were able to earn some rarely seen scores. Shields was rewarded a pair of 30-24s and a 30-25 in his lopsided win over Danny Davis Jr., while Okami recorded a 30-25 in addition to two 30-27s to defeat Andre Lobato.
The main card opener saw Bruno Santos grind out a victory against Rex Harris to earn a trio of 30-27s on the judges’ cards.
In preliminary action, Luiz "Buscape” Firmino and Puna Soriano both picked up impressive first-round TKO wins. Firmino broke Eddy Ellis’s jaw with a stiff left hook, and Soriano needed just two-and-a-half minutes to punch out Jon Gover.
