Preview! Ragin’ Al Takes Over As UFC 223 Headliner

Khabib Nurmagomedov and lightweight power puncher Al Iaquinta will headline the UFC 223 pay-per-view (PPV) event tonight (Sat., April 7, 2018) inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

“The Eagle” is eligible to win the lightweight title; however, “Ragin’ Al” is not, as he weighed in at 155.2 on Friday (video) and championship bouts require fighters to be on weight or below the division limit.

Promotion president Dana White disagrees with that logic, but whatever.

Iaquinta replaced Max Holloway after New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) ruled “Blessed” medically unfit to compete. The Hawaiian was replacing the injured Tony Ferguson, who took over for the inactive Conor McGregor.
