Remember Her? Try Not To Gasp When You See Her Now!

Bantamweights beware, Bethe Correia is hungry like the wolf hawk.

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight No. 1 contender has been out of action since Holly Holm put her out to pasture in June 2017. It was the latest setback in a dismal 1-3-1 run that started with her character-building knockout loss to Ronda Rousey.

But don’t expect her to be timid upon her upcoming return, based on these comments from Combate (via Bloody Elbow):

“I’m dying to come back. I noticed there are a lot of events in July, so that would be a good time for me,. It’s been a year since I last fought, I’m hungry to get back in there and show everyone I’m okay. My fans keep asking me when will I be back. No matter who my opponent is, I just want to fight. I want to feel the warmth of the Octagon and the taste of victory. After that, I’ll chase that division like a hawk. I’ll focus on the best opponent, the one who can get me back into title contention so I can become a champion.”

The bug-eating Brazilian was sidelined last fall with emergency surgery.

Correia (10-3-1) will have to race against the clock if she hopes to land a division title shot, which will undoubtedly take an impressive win streak to secure. “Pitbull” turns 35 in June and sits at No. 10 in the official rankings.

She might want to start with this rematch.
