Showtime releases the first TV commercial for Mayweather vs. McGregor

Get hyped for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor superfight on August 26th with this 30 second spot.

July is done and August is beginning, and that means the real countdown can start for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing superfight on August 26th.

Four short weeks from now we'll find out if Conor McGregor can really shock the world, or if this was all just a cynical play by everyone involved to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars. That being said, the only way they'll make that money is if people buy the pay-per-view, and it's not like we haven't been warned that the fight could be a farce.

In order to convince us to buy the fight, Showtime has its first 30 second TV spot for Mayweather vs. McGregor and it's pretty pimped out. Floyd and Conor emerge from some kind of fantastical structure so laden with gold that everything is bathed in a soft yellow light. "Money" Mayweather's backdrop is decorated with lions and dollar signs. McGregor's has castles and Irish flags. Stacks of cash and gold bullion are scattered everywhere. We imagine this portrays them after the fight happens.

But again, it only happens if you buy into the hype and into the pay-per-view, which costs $99.95 (or £19.95 if you're lucky enough to live in the UK).
