Sorry, but Conor McGregor won’t have ‘oh my god’ power against Floyd Mayweather

Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor is a prolific knockout artist (just ask this guy), ending 18 of his 21 mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts by way of flying fists

No, not that Conor McGregor.

But just because “Notorious” can drop his opponents inside the Octagon, which may have rattled “The Money Team,” doesn’t mean his power is otherworldly. That’s according to former IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.

“It’s definitely above average. I wouldn’t say it’s ‘Oh my God’ power,” Malignaggi said on The Jim Rome Show on Wednesday (via Bloody Elbow). “Now, ‘Oh my God’ power is very rare. There’s above average power, so if he lands a good shot on you, I mean granted, with small fight gloves he will hurt you, but it’s not ‘Oh my God’ power where every time he touches you you’re like my goodness, this is very uncomfortable. It’s not that kind of power, but it’s good enough.”

Like a 10-pound sledgehammer, to be exact.

McGregor will need every ounce of that power (and a better chin) to upset undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. when they collide inside the ring next month (Aug. 26, 2017) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
