Standing in a room full of dead bodies, Carlos Condit starts his own coffee business

Remember when the job of barista used to be a punchline?

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Carlos Condit is already preparing for life after mixed martial arts (MMA), now that the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) 170-pound champion is in the twilight of his career.

And worried about head trauma.

So what does a combat sports athlete do almost every day before a hard session of MMA training? Suck down a few cups of Joe, if you're “The Natural Born Killer.” So why pay a local chain when you can just create your own company?

And Condit appears to have gotten his inspiration from the unlikeliest of sources.

“I met my partner Ryan and his wife in a cadaver lab. We were showing doctors how to put people’s arms back together and we got on the subject of coffee,” Condit told KRQE News 13. “Ryan was wanting to do some cold brew. I am a coffee fanatic and it kind of clicked.”

Condit (30-10) has been part of some of the most memorable welterweight fights of all time, and has routinely fought the best the division has to offer, including Georges St-Pierre, Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley, and Nick Diaz, just to name a few.

Whether of not “The Natural Born Killer’ ever finds his way back to the Octagon remains to be seen, but it sounds like he’s perfectly content (and well caffeinated) right where he is.
