Twitter Reacts To Jones’ License Revocation
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones stood in front of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) earlier today (Feb. 27, 2018) to answer for his failed drug test following his UFC 214 title fight against Daniel Cormier last July.
And it didn’t go too well for “Bones.”
His license was revoked and he was fined a sum of $205,000 for the infraction, which was his second to date, but first under the California commission. Still, Jones has to wait and see if United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) hands him a longer suspension from competing in MMA overall.
Naturally, many in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community took to social media to react to the news, and the feedback was mixed, to say the least.

August 28 is the date Jones’ license was revoked. So he’s eligible to reapply this August. No guarantee he’ll get it. And USADA sanctions still possible.

I dunno if Malki Kawa didn't know what Jones' defence was going to be, or if he just honestly thought that would WORK, but there's basically 0% chance he fights in 2018 if that's the defence he gives USADA.

I do believe one could argue the day ended well for Jones. If the CSAC gave him, say, a 2 year ban outright, he’s done for 2 years. But they’ve deferred to USADA. If USADA is somehow lenient and gives him a one year ban (retroactive to last July), he could fight again this year.

We don’t know when the USADA hearing is yet. Going to be very interesting to see how it plays out. So while the day may have started rocky for Jones, I don’t think he got the worst-case scenario after all was said and done. We’ll see.
