UFC 214 fight card, lineup for Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2 PPV tonight
UFC 214 is going down tonight (Sat., July 29, 2017) live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., as reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier looks to finally slay his personal demon — and most hated rival — Jon Jones. Cormier and Jones first collided at UFC 182 back in Jan. 2015, with “Bones” coasting to a well-deserved unanimous decision win. “DC” has worked hard to earn a rematch, taking out Anthony Johnson (twice), Alexander Gustafsson and Anderson Silva to claim the 205-pound strap that Jones was forced to forfeit (twice) because of his unlawful extracurricular activities outside the Octagon.
It’s been a long, strange mixed martial arts (MMA) cocaine-fueled trip ever since, as their highly-anticipated rematch has been delayed twice thanks to a foot injury and dick pills. Nevertheless, the night when UFC’s two greatest Light Heavyweight fighters ever clash for a second time is finally upon us. Good things really do come to those who wait. And Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones 2 is proof.
In other pay-per-view (PPV) main card action, Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will put his belt on the line against Demian Maia and his seven-fight unbeaten streak, which includes submission wins over top-ranked fighters such as Carlos Condit, Matt Brown and Neil Magny. Cris Cyborg will also finally get the opportunity to compete for a UFC title after the promotion’s first-ever women’s Featherweight champion, Germaine de Randamie, decided she didn’t want to defend the belt against the Brazilian. Cyborg will now battle Invicta FC Bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger for the vacant 145-pound tiara. Two other explosive fights — Robbie Lawler vs. Donald Cerrone and Jimi Manuwa vs. Volkan Oezdemir — round out a loaded PPV event that UFC has dubbed, “The Biggest Card of The Year.”
