UFC 214 results: Dana White likes Cris Cyborg vs. Holly Holm featherweight title fight next

Cris Cyborg became the new Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion after knocking out a game Tonya Evinger at last night’s (Sat., July 29, 2017) UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Anaheim, California.

So what’s next for the fearsome striker in a division that isn’t exactly loaded with challengers? According to UFC president Dana White’s comments during the post-fight presser, a title defense against another former world champion could be on the horizon.

“I was just talking to Holly Holm back there. ‘What do you think?’ It seems like she’s interested. I like Holly vs. Cyborg. I think it’s a good fight. I think Cyborg looked good. She was very composed. She didn’t go crazy. She took her time, picked her shots, and I think she looked good.”

Holm returned to the win column by taking out Bethe Correia a few months ago. The win was her first after losing three straight, one of which included losing to Germaine de Rnadamie in the UFC’s inaugural women’s 145-pound title fight.

Of course, de Randamie’s refusal to fight Cyborg is well-documented, which eventually led to her being stripped of the strap. But, it seems Holm has no issues with fighting Cris.

Are you okay with that matchup?
