Highlights! Goltsov Ices Johnson, Earns Second Straight $1 Million Fight
PFL
For the second straight year, Denis Goltsov will be heading to the Professional Fighter’s League (PFL) Heavyweight championship final for the chance to win $1 million. “The Russian Bogatyr” secured his back-to-back trip to the title fight by slicing through Tim Johnson like a hot knife through butter, stopping him with a barrage of strikes halfway through the opening frame.
With the win, Goltsov improves his win streak to three straight, 13-3 overall under the PFL banner. In the 2023 finale, Goltsov ran into Renan Ferreira, who knocked him out in the second round to become the 265-pound champion, all while taking home the cool $1 million jackpot. Now, the hard-hitting big man will look to make it right one year later by securing the bag himself, as well as the shiny hardware.
Of course, his path to winning it all will not be easy because he will be taking on Oleg Popov, who is scorching hot with 17 straight wins and an overall record of 19-1. Popov secured his trip to the finals against his fellow countrymen by defeating Linton Vassell via unanimous decision.
