Misfits Boxing 18 gets a “Smooth” addition to its one-night Stake Pro Tournament card in Newcastle.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Benson Henderson, labels himself a “competition addict” on Instagram, which may explain why he’s making his return to combat sports after retiring from mixed martial arts (MMA) back in March 2023.
Henderson, now 40, will throw hands opposite UFC veteran Chris Avila as part of the Stake Pro Tournament Card for Misfits Boxing on Sept. 14 at Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle. The winner moves on to face the victor of Idris Virgo vs. Fes Batista at light heavyweight.
“The Stake Pro Tournament Card is an absolute monster, with four title fights in one night,” promoter Mams Taylor said in the official release. “Fans will get to watch not one, not two but three female title fights as well as the first ever Stake Pro Tournament, featuring four light heavyweights fighting it out to be the last man standing and crowned the first ever pro champion in Misfits Boxing.”
Middleweight champion Elle Brooke battles Jenny Savage in the Misfits Boxing 18 main event. Elsewhere on the card, Misfits Boxing women’s cruiserweight champion Jully Pocca puts her strap on the line against former bareknuckle bruiser Crystal Pittman.
“Elle Brooke will show, yet again, how fearless she is in the massive main event against Jenny Savage, which headlines an undercard that is over-flowing with huge match-ups,” Co-president Kalle Sauerland added. “We’re bringing you two more female title showdowns plus it’s all about the last man standing in the first ever Stake Pro Tournament, featuring four big-hitting light heavyweights.”
Misfits Boxing 18 will air live on DAZN.
