Bellator’s most self-assured star will return to the cage on Jan. 25 when Dillon Danis gets locked in the cage with the unheralded Kegan Gennrich.

Bellator President Scott Coker on Friday announced the matchup for Bellator 238, which takes place Jan. 25 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The Paramount-televised event is headlined by a featherweight title fight between champ Julia Budd and ex-UFC champ Cris Cyborg.

Danis, 26, makes his third appearance as a pro MMA fighter after transitioning from competitive jiu-jitsu. It also marks his second fight since the end of a seven-month suspension issued by the Nevada Athletic Commission for his role in an infamous brawl at UFC 229 with lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, who submitted his friend and training partner, Conor McGregor.

In the Bellator cage, Danis has dominated lesser-known-competition, picking up first-round submission wins in a pair of fights. Online, he’s hazed several would-be opponents to no avail. In July, he was involved in a nightclub brawl in New York.

Gennrich sports a record of 2-1 and makes his Bellator debut after a pair of stoppage wins on the regional circuit.
