Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back at the friendly confines of its APEX venue last night (Sat., April 27, 2024) in Las Vegas, Nevada, for UFC Vegas 91. In the main event of the evening, Alex Perez scored a second-round knockout win over Matheus Nicolau (see it again here). In the co-main event, Bogdan Guskov defeated Ryan Spann via devastating technical knockout in round two, as well (highlights here).

 Nicolau v Perez

Winner: Alex Perez
Who He Should Face Next: Manel Kape

Since Perez stepped in to face Nicolau after Kape bowed out with an injury, it’s only right to give Perez the fight against “Starboy,” who is currently on a four-fight win streak. Kape is currently ranked No. 6, while Perez will likely take the No. 5 spot following his thunderous knockout win over the Brazilian Flyweight.

 Spann v Guskov

Winner: Bogdan Guskov
Who He Should Face Next: Nikita Krylov

Guskov secured his second straight knockout win by absolutely destroying Spann (see it here), putting him at 2-1 in his young UFC career. Up next for the heavy-handed Uzbek, a bout against Krylov sounds about right. Krylov’s last win also came against Spann, choking him out more than one year ago.

 Nicolau v Perez

Winner: Karine Silva
Who He Should Face Next: Natalia Silva

Silva once again showed the reason(s) she is a legit contender in the women’s Flyweight division, taking it to Ariane Lipski to score a unanimous decision win and pushing her consecutive win streak nine (fourth inside the Octagon). A bout against another surging contender in Natalia Silva sounds like fun. She is also on quite a run, winning 11 straight fights, five inside the Octagon. One of these ladies will take a huge step in the rankings and get into title contention if (and when) this fight comes together.

 Lane v Diniz

Winner: Jhonata Diniz
Who He Should Face Next: Lukasz Brzeski

Diniz had himself a spectacular UFC debut, knocking out Austen Lane in the second round of their Heavyweight fight, earning himself a $50,000 post-fight bonus award in the process. In doing so, the former GLORY standout upped his undefeated record to 7-0. As for Brzeski, he got back in the win column — his first victory under the UFC banner — by defeating Valter Walker earlier this month.

 Onama v Santos

Winner: David Onama
Who He Should Fight Next: Brito vs. Shore winner

Onama earned his second straight win inside the Octagon, improving to 4-1 over his last five fights, defeating Johnathan Pearce via unanimous decision. “The Silent Assassin” still has a long way to go before he can start sniffing a spot in the the Top 15 of a loaded Featherweight division, but he is making all of the right moves to eventually get there. As far as what could be next for him, I’d like to see him face the winner of the upcoming fight between Joanderson Brito and Jack Shore, who will face off at UFC 301 next month.

Winner: Uros Medic
Who He Should Fight Next: Alex Morono

Medic earned himself a trip back to the winner’s circle after ending Tim Means’ night with a first round knockout win (watch it) in “Sin City,” improving his record inside the Octagon to 4-2. As for a fight as Alex Morono, it seems like a good test for both men next. Morono is coming off a big win himself, defeating Court McGee via unanimous decision earlier this month.
