Woodley Plans July Return, Reacts To Reports Of Interim Title

GET READY FOR WAR!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight titleholder, Tyron Woodley, has been out of action since capturing a unanimous decision win over Demian Maia at the UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) event last July.

When can we expect “The Chosen One” to return?

Probably mid-summer, according to comments Woodley (18-3-1) made on UFC Tonight, thanks to a shoulder injury that (eventually) required surgery. In his absence, the promotion is reportedly working on an interim title fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington.

Woodley’s reaction?

A summer return hardly warrants a substitute strap, but that’s just how they roll.

“My projection is July,” Woodley said (via MMA Weekly). “The doctors are telling me that. I’m feeling good about it. I’m healing up very well. I’m back to training again. After I do that third series of PRP and stem cells, I’m gonna be 100 percent. Somebody is getting hurt.”

Hopefully he means hurt as in this and not this.
